SOC439H1: Immigration and Employment


This course examines the labour market and employment situation of immigrants emphasizing recent Canadian experience in comparative context. Topics include immigrant human capital, declining immigrant earnings, immigrant skill-underutilization, impact of the knowledge economy, racial discrimination, labour market structure and unionization, immigrant entrepreneurship and experiences of the Canadian-born second generation. Restricted to 4th-year sociology majors and specialists.
